This week I had planned to make a short film, but life got in the way, so instead I cut together a short rope flow video.

Tools I used:
iPhone 13 mini camera - to record video
Octorope - to flow with
Capcut - to edit video on the phone
Soundraw - to generate cheesy royalty free background music
Context
I used to do a lot of slacklining, and it was a great way to get into flow state through movement, balance, and coordination. It’s awkward to travel with a slackline, and without a backyard or nearby grassy park, I don’t have a convenient place to do it. I’ve been looking for a more portable equivalent that offers a new movement challenge. A friend recently introduced to the ‘flow rope’, so I’m giving it a try.
Process
I learned a few moves, went to the Bosque de Tlalpan (a beautiful forest in the south of Mexico city), and filmed myself in a few spots. It was fun playing with foreground/background.

Learnings
I’m sure this is old news to TikTok users, but Capcut is a pretty amazing mobile video editor!
I haven’t lost my childhood habit of sticking my tongue out while concentrating
It’s harder to nail a move while on camera
Next steps
Master non-dominant hand dragon rolls, sushi roll, sneaks, overhand/underhand matadors, and the transitions between them
